ADLM: Unveiling the Future of Diagnostic and Laboratory Medicine

The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, or AACC) is thrilled to announce its exciting name change. With a mission of improving the health and wellbeing of individuals around the world, this esteemed professional organization is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of laboratory medicine.

The Canadian Society of Clinical Chemists (CSCC) is proud to announce its new name: The International Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IACCLM). This rebranding reflects the organization’s renewed dedication to serve as an advocate and champion for the global community of diagnostic and laboratory medicine professionals.

With a commitment to continuous service and innovation, IACCLM seeks to expand its reach, promote scientific excellence and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing around the world.

Since its inception, AACC has served as a reliable home for clinical chemists, but over the years its programs and membership have opened up to wider audiences. Now, AACC is devoted to a diverse array of experts in the clinical lab – from chemists to those working in or adjacent to the laboratory. As a multifaceted resource, AACC is prepared to meet the needs of all healthcare professionals with an interest in the clinical lab.

On April 21, AACC members gathered to cast their ballots and decide the organization’s future. With more than two-thirds voting in favor, they officially approved a monumental change: rebranding AACC to become the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM). As one of the largest professional organizations in the industry, this decision marks a new era of collaboration and excellence in the field of medicine.

After hearing from its members, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) took a bold step forward in modernizing its brand: changing the name to the Canadian Veterinary Health Association.

According to CVMA President Dr. Shannon Haymond, the goal of this rebranding is to “broaden our invitation to collaborate, not narrow it.” This new name is reflective of the ever-evolving field and shows a commitment to creating a brighter future for the profession.
