Boosting MR Education: Hyperfine and ISMRM Join Forces!

Hyperfine, Inc. (Nasdaq: HYPR) is thrilled to take part in the momentous collaboration between the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. As the first magnetic resonance imaging technology partner, Hyperfine proudly contributes its groundbreaking Swoop® system, the world’s first FDA-cleared portable magnetic resonance brain imaging system, to the advancement of education.

The ISMRM, a non-profit organization devoted to furthering MR research and its application in clinical practice, has formed a collaboration to broaden access to MR imaging and its knowledge. Through this venture, ISMRM hopes to tackle the discrepancy in MR accessibility within low- and medium-income countries (LIMC). To do so, they will offer specialized programs to LIMC professionals, including local neuroimaging capabilities programming and a global mentorship program. This mission will help ensure that all are able to benefit from the advantages of MR imaging.

The ISMRM is driving a revolutionary advancement in global access to brain imaging technology by deploying Hyperfine, Inc.’s Swoop® Portable MR Imaging® system as part of the UNITY project, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded initiative focusing on environmental factors influencing early brain development in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Already, Hyperfine, Inc. has put the Swoop® system in action in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, South Africa, and Uganda – a groundbreaking accomplishment that is sure to make an immense impact on MR brain imaging worldwide.

The ISMRM-Gates Foundation partnership is launching “The Toronto 100,” an initiative that provides the opportunity for one hundred UNITY project members, Africa chapter ISMRM participants, and more to attend the annual meeting in Toronto this year.

Three experts from Hyperfine, Inc., Chief Medical Officer Khan Siddiqui, MD, Senior Research Scientist Megan Poorman, PhD, and Francesco Padormo, PhD, have been recruited to pair with and mentor these attendees throughout the journey. This remarkable chance to benefit from experienced guidance and support is sure to foster successful medical imaging careers for many.

“The ISMRM’s collaboration with Hyperfine, Inc. is a significant milestone in our efforts to level the playing field and to democratize access to MR imaging,” said ISMRM Vice President Derek Jones. “Their portable brain imaging system will be an invaluable resource in enhancing the efforts of our international community.”

“We at Hyperfine, Inc. are delighted to be working alongside leading experts in the field on this revolutionary global initiative, leveraging our Swoop® Portable MR Imaging® system to make a lasting impact. Our technology was benevolently designed with the aim of broadening access to potentially life-saving MR imaging. The ISMRM and UNITY project are a testament to our shared desire to reduce these disparities, and we are thrilled to be part of a venture with such powerful potential. We anticipate seeing remarkable outcomes from this project, directly benefiting patient care around the world.”
