Ossium Health, Inc. is thrilled to announce a $3.46M Clinical Stage Research Program (CLIN1) grant from the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM)! This grant will provide essential funding for the development of OSSM-007, a mesenchymal stem cell product primed with interferon-gamma, as a potential treatment for steroid-refractory acute graft versus host disease (GVHD).
With this grant, Ossium Health will be able to move forward with pre-clinical and manufacturing activities, and they are hopeful to begin clinical study activities by the end of 2023.
Acute GVHD is a dangerous reaction that occurs after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HCT), in which donor cells attack the tissues of the recipient. Despite advances in other HCT outcomes, GVHD remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality, with approximately 30-60% of allogeneic HCT recipients developing the condition and half of those becoming resistant to steroid therapy. Therefore, it is essential to develop effective new treatments to combat this serious complication.
