The Wyss Foundation has made a landmark investment of CHF 120 million to further the mission of the Center for Neurotherapeutics: to speed up the development of innovative treatments for brain disorders, with the goal of transforming patients’ lives. This commitment has enabled the Center to appoint a new leader to take the reins and drive forward its mission.
Erwin Schoenegger’s appointment as CEO of the Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering will serve as a major catalyzing force in the effort to improve patient care through life science innovation. Prof. Böttinger is a pioneer in the field of personalized medicine, with a focus on genomics and digital technologies. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the Charles Bronfman Institute for Personalized Medicine and the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
He also served as founding director of the Digital Health Center at the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering and University Potsdam, and CEO of the Berlin Institute of Health, Berlin, Germany. His impressive career has seen him become a leader in the development of cutting-edge medical solutions that will shape the future of healthcare.
Prof. Böttinger has taken the reins as the new CEO, succeeding Dr. Mary Tolikas who stepped down in 2022. With a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence, Prof. Böttinger is poised to lead the company to even greater heights.
