Microbot Medical Inc. (Nasdaq: MBOT) has been gaining significant attention from interventional radiologists across the globe due to its revolutionary LIBERTY® Robotic System – the first single-use endovascular robotic system. To further enhance their efforts, the company has appointed Professor Gerry O’Sullivan, a renowned KOL from Ireland, to its Scientific Advisory Board.
His extensive experience and insight will be a great asset to the team as they strive to establish Centers of Excellence throughout the U.S. and Europe in preparation for human clinical trials.
Professor O’Sullivan is an expert in venous disease and has accumulated extensive experience in the field. After working as a Fellow at Stanford University Medical Centre and a Consultant at Rush University Medical Centre in the US, he now works at Galway Clinic.
He specializes in DVT removal, IVC reconstruction and the indication of IVC filters. On a yearly basis, Professor O’Sullivan performs numerous prostate and uterine fibroid embolizations, in addition to a range of interventional procedures.
I was incredibly impressed with the LIBERTY® Robotic System after attending a lab session – its intuitive design and straightforward interface makes it the perfect solution for interventional radiologists who desire favorable patient outcomes. I’m excited to join forces with the team and contribute my experience and expertise to help bring the system to the commercial market.
The LIBERTY device’s development has seen a surge in interest from global key opinion leaders, with an increasing number of lab sessions. To meet our goals in the regulatory and clinical phases, the addition of Professor O’Sullivan, with his expertise in the U.S. and European markets, adds an invaluable perspective. Eyal Morag, Chief Medical Officer, commented: “We are delighted to have Professor O’Sullivan on board.”
With over 25 years of experience under his belt, Professor O’Sullivan is a Fellow of both the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR). His research and primary authorship on the deep venous system has been published extensively.
Professor O’Sullivan currently sits on the Executive Committee of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and serves as Vice Chair of the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) for the CIRSE’s Annual Meeting – the largest global interventional radiologist gathering.
