Kalos Medical Makes Significant Progress in Clinical Trial, Secures Grant Funding

Kalos Medical, Inc., a developer of revolutionary and minimally invasive medical devices, has been selected to participate in the 2023 Industrial Technology Innovation Project. This Project, administered by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, will award Kalos a grant of KRW4.67 billion (approximately US$3.5 million) over five years to rapidly enhance the development of its renal denervation medical device for the treatment of hypertension. This cutting-edge device is sure to revolutionize medical care, and Kalos is proud to be part of this exciting endeavor.

Kalos has been chosen as the R&D lead of an exciting consortium of institutions working to improve the quality of interventional medical devices. This project, which is supported by manufacturers and CDMOs, focuses on overcoming the hurdles associated with manufacturing these devices, allowing for better patient outcomes. We are thrilled to be part of this pioneering effort and look forward to making a meaningful contribution to the field of interventional medicine.

Kalos is proud to announce a new consortium comprising of MNTek, Korea Electronics Technology Institute (“KETI”), and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. This collaboration will leverage MNTek’s biomedical sensor technology and KETI’s electronic medical device control system technology to further develop Kalos’ renal denervation medical device.

To ensure its efficacy, safety, and usability, the consortium will be conducting animal studies led by Professor Chae In-ho from the Cardiology Department at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital.

Kalos Medical is thrilled to have been selected for this grant, a testament to the company’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of medical device innovation. CEO Peter Chang is eager to join forces with MNTek, KETI, and SNU Bundang Hospital, with the goal of fostering the global success of Korean renal denervation medical devices.

About Kalos Medical

Kalos Medical, a leader in the development of minimally invasive medical devices, has just unveiled DENEXTM – a revolutionary device for the treatment of hypertension. Utilizing its own proprietary catheter-based technology, the device consists of three electrodes that are inserted into the renal artery via catheter, which then deliver radio frequency energy to the arterial wall, thereby deactivating the renal nerves and reducing hypertension. Clinical trials are currently being conducted in both Korea and Europe, bringing hope to those suffering from hypertension.
