Unlocking Potential: How Inceptor Bio Empowers Women to Reach Their Leadership Goals

Women are often the driving force behind innovation, making up nearly half of the life sciences industry in spite of the lingering wage gap. Their presence is invaluable and undeniably contributes to the success of the industry, making them an integral part of the advancement of modern science.

At Inceptor Bio, we believe that empowering diverse voices, creating equitable opportunities, and fostering an inclusive culture are the key to unlocking life-changing outcomes. That’s why we are committed to closing the gaps in DEI and creating a world of possibility.

Power of Community

With over two decades of management experience, Peggy Owens is a powerhouse at Inceptor Bio, where she serves as the Senior Director and Head of Quality for the Gainesville, Florida manufacturing site. A leader with a passion for ensuring the highest standards of excellence, Owens is dedicated to ensuring that Inceptor Bio’s products remain top-notch.

When climbing the career ladder, it wasn’t until she joined Inceptor Bio that Owens felt the full support of her colleagues and superiors. Now, Owens has the assurance of a strong network behind her to help her reach her goals.

At our workplace, trust and respect are the foundation of our work culture. All employees are encouraged to voice their opinions, share their experiences, ask questions, and make suggestions – without fear of judgement or criticism. We believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute, regardless of their role or position.

Owens exemplified the success of their community engagement and DEI initiatives through the positive response they have received. These initiatives have enabled the company to build a diverse and inclusive culture, while also connecting with the communities they serve.

At Inceptor Bio Care, we’re passionate about giving back to our community. That’s why we’ve launched our quarterly Inceptor Bio Cares employee-driven initiative, which provides support to local charities, including domestic violence organizations, community food banks and U.S. veterans shelters. We’re proud to use our resources to help those in need and make a positive impact in our community.

She also highlighted an exciting DEI initiative focused on honoring the influential leadership and influence of female scientists. This initiative seeks to recognize their efforts in creating a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment.

In celebration of Women in Science Month, our company set out on a mission to honor some of the most influential women in science by naming all of our conference rooms and break rooms after them. With this initiative, we sought to highlight the accomplishments of women in the fields of science and inspire future generations.

At Inceptor Bio, all women were invited to join the team in deciding who the finalists for the position would be. After spirited discussion, the team ultimately arrived at a consensus and chose the finalists.

Despite advancements in gender equality, the biotechnology industry still has a long way to go in terms of providing more opportunities and board positions for women. According to Dr. Owens, this is an area that needs more attention and focus in order to truly evolve and grow. She believes that women should be given the same chances as men in all areas related to biotechnology, and that more should be done to ensure they are given equal opportunities.

Together, They Succeed

At Inceptor, our resilient and highly committed team has accomplished a great deal in a short period of time. Our culture, leadership values, and work ethic have all played a major role in our success. According to Sumiti Jain, Ph.D., Vice President of R&D at Inceptor Bio, “I am amazed at how much we have accomplished quickly at such early stages of the company.”

In May 2022, a revolutionary biotech company launched with $37 million in Series A financing to spur the development of its cutting-edge CAR-T, CAR-M, and CAR-NK platforms. This funding will allow the company to move its lead CAR-T program into the clinic and continue to innovate in the field of cell and gene therapy.

Jain has been a driving force behind several successful initiatives, and her leadership skills have been honed by the mentorship she has received throughout her career and the encouragement she has found at Inceptor Bio. This support has encouraged her to have the confidence to take on any challenge, a necessary trait for any successful female leader.

At Inceptor, we know that trust and authenticity are key for successful leadership. Our leadership team actively encourages people to show up authentically at work, creating a supportive environment for their growth and development. We strive for excellence, but also recognize the importance of being human. Our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and people-focused practices is evident throughout the organization. Together, this creates a positive and productive atmosphere for everyone involved.

For the past decade, Dr. Shilpi Jain has been an instrumental part of Women in Bio (WIB) – an organization committed to promoting the careers of women in the bioscience field. Through her participation in the organization, Dr. Jain has not only gained invaluable exposure, but also has had the opportunity to learn from different perspectives. This has been an incredible asset to her career and has helped shape her professional journey.

I am immensely grateful to have been part of the WIB community and for the amazing opportunities it has provided me. It has been an incredible experience that I will always cherish.
